Maybe this is my dark side talking but theres almost something unnerving about this abandoned single horse carousel in the brush.

Whoo Kinetics.

Attempt # 4, or 5 I sorta don’t remember this time of night.

+ The individual “legs” are made to be able to retract about 1 cm in its length
+ The framework holding these are made to be able to constantly move,
+ Twisting the bar forces the legs to tug on the fabric.

..Its kinda fun to play with.

 

Exploration 2,3 (Hey I’m out of titles.)

So starting models 2 and 3 I’m like. Crap this net/mesh thing isn’t working. Theres no weight, theres no force there technically isn’t a push or pull its just sort of a “hang.”

So I chucked mesh out the window. Well, no I didn’t I just shoved it in my basket.

So uhh.

Introduction of small rubber bands into center :

Model Three, After creating the second one i’m like. Dang its kinda small in there. Lets exaggerate.

Now I had two things that were elastic. Stretchy fabric, rubber. I tried both and I’m not sure about how I feel about them just yet.

And then I removed the rubber bands and hooked up the fabric and this is how it turned out..

I am though, however happy that there isn’t glue so I can pop out pieces as I see fit. Hooray!

 

Exploration

Mini idea research :
Torque – the movement of the lever arm from a certain point, Normal Force, angles and other yucky trig stuff I barely remember
Anaphase – When the spindles are in two opposite areas of the cell, with fibers attaching themselves to the center of the chromasomes allowing the chromosomes to line up to prepare to split down the middle. *Tension and suspension – ideas to be furthered explored

I decided to sketch out an idea. I left it kinda vague because pictures -> models never seem to be exact an yways. The sketch also has my word notes on it and how I’ve decided to see certain parts of it.

Now with a second element.

This was the portion. I’ve started a better idea of how it could have integrity and have less movement and cause some tension so we’ll see how that works out in the next model. The second form itself has no weight per say, so it doesn’t have this dramatic gravitation pull. I’m also trying to figure out a way of supporting itself. Technically right now you need to pick it up and well. Eh.

I’ve started to think about a different kinda of flimsy susceptible second quality and i’m in the works of a third element.

Woot sketch. Theres this tension pull tug thing I’m hopefully going to nail on the first try next but I HIGHLY doubt it.

 

Beginnings

From starting my matrix, starting from wikipedia, ( insert link here ), I found a fascination towards “Mental Faculty and Knowledge Based Powers.” The second one, Knowledged Based powers weren’t all that awesome. They were like super geniuses, polygots, and things that were incredibly innate. Though, mental faculty held some interest to me.

Before starting anything I took various notes, that started to narrow down what I had chosen :

“To affect something without physical connection”

Which started me thinking about implied relationships and the more specific mental faculty powers of possession, mind control, mental manipulation, and generally psionic.

Here are my notes. They’re kinda sporadic.

I tried to set myself into a mind set of what it actually or could be with examples seen in the world.

After this I attempted to create a model which embodied this implied kinda push pull relationship. I couldn’t think of anything other than responsive shapes to another for one idea, and a marionette like idea for the other portion.

This was my first sorta *embarassing* try. I had this idea of moveable joints and being able to tug and pull one another to get a response out of paper. Uhm, I’ve decided I really hate string.

After that I decided to make a model with more integrity and.. without string. I had remembered I had bought miniature eye hooks for a previous project but never used them so.

I still wanted to test out this notion of an implied edge hindering or redirecting so I experimented a bit with that.

Wasn’t so interesting though it could embody an encapsulating overpowering form.

I’m currently in the works of thinking about my fourth model and I’m started on a biiittt of it. I’m in the process of sketching and researching more about how things work. I’ve left myself a little note to look up torque and anaphase to relearn a bit of that.
